Short version: your salary figures never leave your device unless you press one of two clearly-labelled buttons.

What stays on your device

Everything you type into the calculator — salary, expenses, family size, scenarios — is processed in your browser and saved to your browser's local storage so it is still there when you return. It is not transmitted to any server and I cannot see it. Clearing your browser data removes it. The same applies to the ticks on the relocation checklist.

The "copy shareable link" feature encodes your figures into the link itself. Anyone you send that link to can see those figures, so treat it like any other document containing your salary.

The two features that do transmit data

Package review (optional AI feature)
If you press "Review this package", the summary figures shown on screen are sent to our server and on to Anthropic's API to generate written commentary. They are used for that response only, are not stored by this site, and are not used to train models. Do not use it if you would rather those numbers stayed local — the calculator works fully without it.
Contact form
The name, email and message you submit are sent to a form-processing service and forwarded to my inbox, so I can reply. Kept only as long as needed to deal with your message.

Analytics

Visitor numbers come from Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not fingerprint or track individuals across sites. It records aggregate page views, referrers, country and device type. I use it to know which tools are worth maintaining, and nothing else. The site may also count anonymous, non-identifying feature events (for example, how many calculations were completed) with no personal data attached.

Advertising and cookies

This site shows advertising from Google AdSense to cover hosting costs. Google and its partners may set cookies or read device identifiers to serve and measure ads. If you are in the UK, EEA or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before any personalised advertising cookies are set, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time using the "Privacy & cookie settings" link in the footer. Where consent is refused, only non-personalised ads are served. Google's own explanation of how it uses data in advertising is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Some outbound links to money-transfer providers are affiliate links, marked as such wherever they appear. If you use one, the provider may pay a commission. That never affects what the calculator recommends or what the numbers say.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask what personal data I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to processing, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. In practice the only personal data I ever hold is what you send in the contact form. Use the contact form to make a request.
